Hello Willow Families!
I am thrilled to introduce myself as Willow’s new Reading Specialist!
Being at Willow is a true homecoming for me. I grew up in LVUSD, attended both Lindero Middle and Agoura High Schools, and student taught at Willow almost 15 years ago.
For the past three years, I served as a Literacy Coach at Webster Elementary in Malibu, supporting teachers in designing reading instruction to help all students grow. Prior to that, I taught Kindergarten, Second, and Third grades at Franklin Elementary in Santa Monica.
My husband and I moved our family to Agoura Hills over three years ago so that our girls could attend Willow, and I’m happy to say that I am also a proud parent this year – with a daughter in Journeys!
Thanks to PFA’s support, I will have designated time each week to teach small groups, collaborate with teachers and assistants on programming, best practice techniques, assessment and data analysis, consultation for literacy projects, and challenge and extension activities. I am looking forward to putting my skills and passion to use in our wonderful community.
We have already kicked off the year by incorporating some new differentiated programs that I’ve found to be successful at my prior schools, and it has been an honor and pleasure to partner with such a willing and seasoned staff.
My first love is, of course, working with students, and I feel fortunate to provide both whole group demo lessons and small group support in an ongoing manner.
My new room is inside the Library (the old computer lab) and we are now calling it the Literacy Lab. Please come say hi, and know that I am here to support you as parents too!
I am looking forward to helping with the Readathon, the Book Fair, and supporting this amazing school any other way I can! If I can be of any assistance to your family, please don’t hesitate to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Hope to meet you all soon,
